Week 4:EOC; WOW

Three WOWS!

I will have to think about this more…..
There is one thing that I could think of right now. I could show up with drinks. But because it is a school facility that I am presenting, it would have to be cider or something non alcoholic.  We could serve snacks and make everyone feel welcomed. I would choose to start off with our company and show the crowd what kind of design firm we are.

Another thing we as a team could do is use a toy car that can be driven by remote control and have it drag in balloons and get some smoke going. Ultimately make the area look like a party of some sort. If this were a real meeting, I might have hired real strippers. They would not perform but their presence would intimidate the men. Maybe make them more vulnerable. This would be great. But since it is only a school project and we had little direction. I suppose that in the real world I would find out how to go about working a project out since I am not learning it in class by my instructor.

Week3 EOC; Brilliant Ideas

I have several ideas to start a buzz on the new take for the Veer Towers. The best way to promote 'The Modern Bachelor Pad' is by having a party at the Veer Towers. Only those who make six figures in each company will be invited for viewing. One rule will apply, they cannot be married. The next best thing to do is to create a commercial that will speak to the bachelors of Las Vegas and California. It would be something like a European commercial. The ideal audience would be specific to those who are business professionals who work on or near the strip that like to live the single lifestyle. Another way to promote the Veer Towers is to have the local news broadcasting companies do a spread on the changes that were made to cater to the Modern bachelor. All of the above could be done along with handing out flyers at night clubs where celebrities hang out. Ideally we would have a celebrity promoting the Veer Towers.

Week one: Project Management Institute

There are many reasons to join PMI.org.  As a member you have access to resources that otherwise would be classified such as PathPro.  PathPro is a career frame work that aids in identifying your own set of skills that are required in successfully managing projects.  Another benefit is having the opportunity to exchange valuable information with other members through their network chapter.  There are even leadership and volunteer opportunities.  Informative publications are a plus.  They will send it to your email or you can access it through their website.  Being a member allows you to submit your own column in the news letters as long as you follow their guidelines.
A variety of discounts are offered.  Credential exams and renewals are to name a few.  There are three types of memberships; individual membership, student membership, and retiree membership. Each have a different fee. There is an additional fee to join the chapters.
It appears to me that their Global Congress and Regional Events provide invaluable information.  Not only is the knowledge shared, they provide professional development to those who seek it.  The upcoming event will be held in October 9-12 2010 in Washington, D.C.  at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.  The following event will be held in Dublin, Ireland May 9-11 2011.

Week 1; My voice

As an Interior Designer who likes to create relaxing environments, I am especially interested in the mid century modern style. I specialize in commercial design but working on residential projects and hospitality projects is just as much fun.
I was a Visual Merchandiser for 7 years and my career was becoming too easy. I needed a bigger challenge in my life. I decided to go back to school and become an Interior Designer. It was the best decision I ever made.
I think of designing as a puzzle that needs to be solved. Creating the environment a person can only imagine is a rewarding job. My goal is to fulfill my client’s wants and needs and make them a reality. Business has been great!
